A TShape doesn't have a text-property. But it's very easy to simulate this, simply by placing a TLabel on top of the TShape.
Tip: if you set the Transparent property of the TLabel to TRUE, only the text of the Label will show, not its background, so you won't have to worry about the color of the Label. Of course, you still have to select a contrasting color for the Font of the TLabel.
