"Topaz for Delphi" is a BDE replacement that works with DBF files, either using MDX indexes or NDX indexes. I'm using it with good results for the DBF/MDX combination for several customer's applications (does not need the BDE installed :) Don't know if it also works with NTX, you could check on the site of these guys:

Maybe also do a search on the 'Net for "delphi BDE alternatives" or "replacements".
