Which version of Delphi 5 do i need to do...

I need to build a program which will run on laptops running cutdown versions of a Sales account manger system. These in turn will upload their data either at a customers premises or in the evenings. They will upload to a central computer in the companies main office that will have a larger database containing all the data from the individual laptops. This data needs to be accessed from the managers of the users of the laptop versions to produce reports etc.
I have read conflicting reports about which version to build the programs on and would appreciate any guildance any body could give me.
